It's easy to get caught up in our wants and needs. When we go to the Lord in prayer, we often focus on ourselves rather than others. This week, we're kicking off a series on prayer and shifting our focus to others. Join us in blessing those around us and praying for our friends!
God often uses different things or people when speaking to us. Sometimes He speaks to us in ways we aren't expecting. Jen Otero dives into the topic of "hearing the voice of God," which is also a key in Mercy's "Keys to Freedom" series, and gives clear understanding on some ways God speaks to us.
It's human nature to want to operate independently. In some cases, being independent is a good thing. When it comes to our relationship with God, however, we need to be dependent. Operating from a place of dependence in Christ is not only what He wants for our relationship with Him, it's then reflected on how we go about living our day to day lives.
We live in a fast-paced world where it can feel like we never have enough time to do everything we want. Sometimes we have to sacrifice our own personal time in order to fulfill other commits. Often, however, we need to be reminded that when we're serving the Lord, He blesses us abundantly for our sacrifices and even though we may have less time, He will fill our hearts with the joy, energy, and peace we each need.
It can be overwhelming to think about just how big the world we live in actually is. God reassures us in the book of Psalm that He knows each and every one of us by name. He knows our hearts, our dreams, our needs, and He knows just how to meet us where we are.
Often we find ourselves in a season of uncertainty and searching for answers to our future. When we set our eyes on God, even when the future may be unknown, He fills our hearts with His joy and peace.
Seasons of life change just like the seasons of weather here on Earth. Ecclesiastes 3 says there is a time for different things to happen in each our lives, even the hard times. No matter what season of life we're in, we must trust in the Lord's promises and remember that His timing is perfect.
With sunshine and warm weather come road trips and vacations among many other things. Often times we get so caught up in the fun summer brings that we forget to reflect on the freedom summer can signify. While we can find things on this earth freeing, we can only find true freedom in Christ.
God has given each of us spiritual gifts, whether we know it or not. It's important for us to learn to identify what those gifts are so we can use them the way God intended! Our gifts are given to us in order to fully love God, love others, and serve.
When we carry our freedom within, we're then able to share that with others. It's especially important to keep our faith and freedom at the center of our families. Parenting has its challenges, but when God is always our focus, we're able to demonstrate His love to impact our children's lives.
